Heavy Duty Pallet Lift Description
This Heavy Duty Pallet Lift is a double pillar machine with a Safe Working Load of 2000 Kgs and a lift height of 3000mm. The lifting platform will be big enough to allow a pallet (1200 x 1000 x 1800mm) to be loaded using a fork lift truck. At the upper level, there was a landing plate to allow easy unloading. The Heavy Duty Pallet Lift was constructed from mild steel with an epoxy coated finish in ‘Goose Wing Grey’ and was bolted to the floor without the need for a pit. Lifting with this Heavy Duty Pallet Lift was accomplished via chains driven by a motor gearbox mounted at the top of the one column with a crossover shaft to the other column.
Safety Guard to PD 5304 Safety of Machinery
The safety guard is constructed from 40 x 40 x 3mm mild steel box section and 3mm, 40mm aperture steel weld mesh to meet the requirements of PD 5304 Safety of Machinery. It enclosed the Heavy Duty Pallet Lift to a height of 5210mm with a hinged door at each level through which the pallets can be loaded and unloaded. Each door is electrically interlocked to prevent the Heavy Duty Pallet Lift being operated with a door open and in addition, the doors are mechanically locked closed whilst the Heavy Duty Pallet Lift is running. Each door may only be opened when the lifting carriage is at the appropriate level.
Lift Carriage Ramp
The lifting carriage was fitted with a base plate to provide the load bearing platform. The lift carriage will come to within approximately 10mm of the floor and there will be a ramp similar to that shown below to allow the pallet to be loaded using a powered pallet truck. The ramp will be substantially robust to allow a fork lift truck to drive onto it in normal operation.
