Heavy Duty Lift Description

This heavy duty lift is a four pillar pallet lift with a Safe Working Load of 3000 Kgs and a lift height of 5060mm. The heavy duty lift was designed to lift and lower a fork lift truck from a ground floor to a concrete mezzanine floor. It was also used to lower empty palletainers from the packing hall for disposal. The heavy duty lift was constructed from mild steel with a painted finish and was bolted to the floor and the concrete mezzanine floor that it was feeding. Lifting with heavy duty lift is accomplished via four chains driven by a pair of motor gearboxes mounted at the top of the main columns with a crossover shaft to the other columns.

Safety Guard to PD 5304:2005 Safety of Machinery

This heavy duty lift was mounted into an existing lift shaft and only the loading and unloading apertures required guarding to meet the requirements of PD 5304:2005 Safety of Machinery. At the ground floor level, there was a powered roller shutter door that was electrically interlocked to prevent the heavy duty lift being operated with a door open and in addition, the door was mechanically locked closed whilst the machine is running. At the upper floor level, there was a powered sliding fridge panelling door that was electrically interlocked to prevent the heavy duty lift being operated with a door open and in addition, the door was mechanically locked closed whilst the machine is running. Each door may only be opened when the lifting carriage is at the appropriate level.

Heavy Duty Lift Application Story

This heavy duty lift was required to lift a Fork Lift Truck and/or Cardboard Palletainers of frozen vegetables up to a mezzanine floor packing hall or to bring empty palletainers back down. The fork truck or palletainers were driven onto the lifting carriage at the ground floor. The heavy duty lift was then sent to the full up position and where the load could be removed. This heavy duty lift was a Goods Only Lift and the fork truck driver was therefore not permitted to travel with the fork truck. This heavy duty lift had a ‘Z’ loading configuration so that the machine was loaded at the front and unloaded at the back of the machine at the upper level. This heavy duty lift was mounted in an existing lift shaft which already had a pit.
